Search Continues for Missing Titanic Expedition Submersible Operated by OceanGate Expeditions

On June 18th, 2023, a submersible vessel carrying five people went missing while exploring the wreck of the Titanic in the North Atlantic Ocean. The submersible was operated by OceanGate Expeditions and was on a tourist expedition to view the wreck of the Titanic. The missing people probably have enough oxygen to survive for three to four days.

The search for the missing submersible is still underway and is being led by the U.S. Coast Guard. The occupants of the submersible have not been found yet and their current whereabouts are unknown.

OceanGate Expeditions is a company that offers tours of shipwrecks and underwater canyons. The voyage to see the Titanic wreckage is eight days long and costs $250,000. The Titan submersible is 22 feet long, weighs 23,000 pounds and has about as much room as a minivan.

The search for the missing submersible is being conducted by aircraft from the United States and Canada, and sonar buoys have been deployed to help search under the surface. The Coast Guard is also coordinating with commercial vessels in the area to aid the search operation.
